FAQs

Q. What are the black ‘flakes’ in my vaporiser after use?

This can be normal depending on where you live. They are mineral deposits from your tap water. Depending on the water in your area it can be black, brown, grey or orange and can look like dirt, sand or flakes.  The residue is harmless and can be flushed away when you rinse and empty the container.  To avoid the flecks appearing it is best to rinse the base of the heating module and clean the vaporiser according to the operating manual on a weekly basis during continued use.  As water sources vary from region to region, this cleaning process may need to be undertaken more frequently if flecks are appearing more regularly.

Q.  Can I re-use the water that’s left, or do I need to empty and refill after each use?

Always empty and rinse your vaporiser container and the base of the heating module in between each use to help wash away built-up mineral residue and excess inhalant.

Q.  I’m worried about mould?

The units will not develop mould during normal use.  Steam output from the unit is germ-free and sanitised.   However, do not let your vaporiser sit in old water as it may erode and degrade the parts.  To reduce excess condensation in the room, always leave the door slightly open during use and air out the room in the morning.

Q. I’m noticing a strange plastic smell?

A unpleasant odour can be due to one of the following:

• A new vaporiser – this is normal and should not last beyond a few uses/ rinses

• Adding inhalant after the water – always add before, as instructed.

• Wrong inhalant or other non-inhalants used (see next Q’s below)

• Not rinsing the vaporiser and cleaning according to the instructions

• Leaving your vaporiser to ‘run dry’ or other misuse

Q. Can I add pure (100%) essential oils or oil blends to my vaporiser?

No.  Use only water soluble inhalants designed for vaporisers, like Euky Bear Sniffly Nose or Sleepy Time Inhalant.

Q.  Can I use Euky Bearub, or Vicks ointment in my vaporiser?

No.  Chest rubs do not dissolve in water and willdamage your vaporiser.   Use of pure oils, chest rubs, solutions or ointments in your vaporiser will void your warranty.

Q.  Can I only use Euky Bear Inhalant in my vaporiser?

We recommend Euky Bear Sniffly Nose or Sleepy Time Inhalants.  Only use a water-soluble inhalant designed for vaporisers. You can also use Vicks VapoSteam.

Q.  I don’t think my vaporiser is steaming enough/ I can’t smell the inhalant.  How can I tell it’s working?

In the morning the water level should have dropped.  If this is happening, your vaporiser is working.

It’s also normal not to smell inhalant after a while as our senses become dulled to consistent aromas.  If you are using the correct amount of inhalant then you can be confident it is working correctly.

Q.  Why do you recommend placing the vaporiser on the floor, not on a bedside table?

The unit needs to be positioned on the floor to avoid any risk of it falling or being accidently pulled down, especially by a child.  We recommend on a carpeted floor, rug or towel, 1.2 meters away from the bed . The unit doesn’t need to be near the intended recipient as the steam will uniformly disperse in the room.

Q.  My vaporiser feels hot.

This is normal.  Like a kettle, vaporisers can get hot.  Care needs to be taken not to touch during operation, especially around the steam vent. As per the operating manual, always keep out of reach of children.
